Signal Integrity modeling / Advanced Parasitic Extraction

Design-To-PCB

When is a digital signal an analog signal? The answer is 'when is becomes high speed'.

Today's high speed technologies require much more planning than before because of the very fast switching speeds and data rates of today's silicon devices. There are very fast memory busses, Serial ATA, Fibre channel, USB and much much more. Before a product is even prototyped, the designer must consider how the trace spacing, width, length, cross talk and even the PCB materiel will impact the signal integrity of the design. Failure to consider this is often the cause of lost schedules and marketing windows because of product re-spins.

PCB Experts can take your product plans and develop a recommended implementation to keep you on schedule. With our signal integrity service, we will take the latest Ibis models and any other parasitics into question, run the simulations to show you what you should expect from various levels of implementations.

You should always consider Signal Integrity Analysis when ever implementing these types of technologies;

  • USB or Firewire.
  • DDR memory.
  • Fibre Channel.
  • Serial ATA (SATA).
  • Ethernet.
  • PCI Express
  • InfiniBand
  • Serial attached SCSI (SAS).
  • ...and many more.

Advanced Parasitic Extraction

Parasitics

Parasitic extraction is the term used for modeling a 3-dimensional object in a computer, and be able to extract the resistance, inductance and capacitance from it so a design engineer can use this as a piece of the bigger puzzle during product development. This engineer might use it to develop Ibis models, Spice models, or even just parameters on a data sheet they are creating.

PCB Experts can model most any items that you can come up with. Whether it be a cable, a microstrip lumped component, or even a die-bondwire-substrate-solderball model, we can provide an accurate idea of what you should expect in your given implementation as well as make suggestions on your implementation should you need to make improvements.
